Afternoon: Tour group members arrive, and check-in to our 3*** hotel, located a few blocks off Las Ramblas, the center of all Barcelona activity. Tour/Barcelona Orientation Meeting for introductions, tour info, and Q&A. Evening: A Fantastic First Group Dinner (very good, but inexpensive food) followed by Barcelona's Famous Fireworks-like Water Show and Group Social at Barcelona's Most Legendary Backpacker's Bar. MON 8/25/08 Morning/Afternoon: We'll leave the day up to you, to shop La Rambla, enjoy the beach, or take a City Bus Tour or Gaudi Walking Tour. Have you ever heard of Antoni Gaudi? Well, if not, you'll quickly learn why his work shows the form and function of a man far beyond even today's modern artists, and he's been dead for over a hundred years now. You can visit La Sagrada Familia Cathedral, La Pedrera and the unbelievable Willy Wonka-like Park Guell, for a picnic. Also, you may wish to visit the site of the 1992 Summer Olympics and its facilities. The Olympic pool, Olympic Stadium, & National Museum of Art. Or you may want to walk the incredible Boqueria Barcelona Food Market, where every food is presented as a work of art. As you can see, there are so many different things to do in Barcelona, there's just no way we could plan one activity that appeals to all. Let us know what you like to do and we'll make sure you know the best way do it. Everything in Barcelona is convenienty located near to our hotel! Evening: Be sure to finish your activities in time for our second Fantastic Group Dinner (again, very good & very inexpensive), which we'll follow-up with a Barcelona Bar Crawl and, no doubt, a late-night social at Maremagnum will be our ultimate destination, as we party like there's no tomorrow! oh, but there is . . . :) TUE 8/26/08 Early Afternoon: We'll gather and head out to the train station for our luxury train ride from Barcelona to Valencia. After settling in, we'll relax by the rooftop pool, and chill out in our luxury 4**** hotel while we await the arrival of additional tourists. Evening: We'll have a very important Valencia Orientation/Pre-Tomatina "Tactical Strategy" meeting for all tourists and we'll answer all your Qs about the big day. This meeting is extremely informative & important for your Tomatina experience. Then, we'll then head out for a few pre-Tomatina drinks and be in bed early (unless you want to stay out late- it's up to you). Another option would be to take in Europe's Largest Aquarium (it's Fantastic!), which is open until 12m. WED 8/27/08 - La Tomatina! LET'S GET IT ON! IT'S GO TIME! Early Morning: We'll travel to Buñol early on Wednesday, via Luxury Motorcoach, to be there from the start of the greased pole climbing to the cutting of the ham, to the water fight, to the T-Shirt fight, to the millions of pounds of tomatoes being dumped in the streets and the unbelievable mayhem that follows! Lots of group photos covered in tomatoes and then we'll hop the motorcoach back to our hotel to relax. Evening: We'll clean up and prep for a night out in the big city, drinking many pitchers of the most addictive and delicious alcoholic beverage on the planet (native to Valencia)- don't you wanna know what it is? Afterwards, we'll meet up with an Australian/New Zealand Tour Group (friends of ours), and blow it out at a beach-side Outdoor Dance Club late, late into the morning hours. THUR 8/28/08 Early Afternoon:We hop a jet to Ibiza, where we'll cab to our 4**** hotel on the beach!!! Then, as soon as possible, take to the pool for some fun and sangria in the laid-back Ibizan sun. We'll have our Ibiza Orientation Meeting (very important) over glasses of sangria, and all Qs about our island paradise will be answered. Just like Barcelona, Ibiza has something for everybody, and we wouldn't presume to know what every tourist's idea of fun is. However, we will be very happy to point you all in the right direction to find your own idea of Heaven - and it probably does exist in Ibiza! NOTE- your days will largely be open to relax & explore and we'll arrange (optional) evening activities. Join us or not, your time in Ibiza is largely unsupervised and yours to enjoy! Evening: We'll take in the unforgettable sunset watching party at the World Famous Café del Mar (Pic 1, Pic 2, Pic 3, Pic 4, Pic 5) in the early evening. Basically, we’ll sip some drinks and just relax while the sun works its magic. DJs accompany the Sunset with an unbelievable soundtrack to its every glare, pulse and shine, timed perfectly to climax at the moment of Sunset. Great people watching! Later then night, we'll head out to the crazy West End Party District, for some Ibizian Bar Crawling, followed by some late-nght (2am+) Club Scene or those who are game. FRI 8/29/08 Afternoon: We're off to one of the World's Most Beautiful Beaches for fun in the sun (Pic 1, Pic 2, Pic 3, Pic 4, Pic 5, Pic 6) featuring some of the world's most beautiful & scantily-clad people. SUN 8/31/08 Afternoon: Our last full day on the island, those of you who are up for it, can rent cars or scooters and join us on an island tour of Ibiza's most beautiful vistas. We'll travel around the island, particularly out to the Pirate's Tower (Pic 1, Pic 2, Pic 3) the most fabled and legendary point of the island, which overlooks Es Vedrá, the home to the mermaid sirens of Homer's Odyssey, to chill and watch the sunset. Es Vedrá is a striking rocky island, standing tall 378m above the ocean's surface. It's surrounded by all kinds of myths, believed to be the Island of the Sirens in Homer's epic, The Holy Island of Tanit (Carthaginian goddess of sauciness), the geographic muse to one of Britain's most famous bands (Oasis), and the Third Most Magnetic spot on the earth (after the North Pole and Stonehenge); compasses don't work in its midst. Like many of Ibiza's hidden gems there is a strong atmosphere of mystery about the place. Those of you who don't join the island tour have the day to do everything you like! Evening: We've got one last night in Ibiza to last a lifetime, so let's make it count! We'll head back to Café del Mar for another evening session of the World's Most Beautiful Sunset and Sangria. Dan Lefebvre President/CSO Tomatina Tours TOUR NOTE: Please note, this is a tour group in the Australian/European sense, meaning, not every minute of every day will be planned for you. We will arrange all travel, accommodations and unbelievable nighttime activities, as well as several incredible daytime activities, PLUS an amazing Tomatina experience, but you will also have afternoons which you will decide how you'd like to spend them (shopping, going to the beach, a museum, clubbing, etc.); and we'll be happy to help you plan, by letting you know all of your best options for fun. However, if you're uncomfortable with managing your own activities for an afternoon, without a chaperone, in a friendly foreign country, this may not be the trip for you. We expect all of our tourists to be competent travelers capable of managing themselves responsibly in a foreign country, ask for help when needed, and to be respectful of all other tourists, cultures, and people we encounter. Should your behavior or activities be extremely disruptive to the group, you will be dismissed from the tour, without a refund. |
